2017 - New Year

 Hi,
Well it's been a long time  since I've done any of this. Hopefully this year I will do more.

It's only the first day, and things are just plodding on as normal still need to get fit still need to lose weight still need to stop drinking blah blah blah.

People are supposed  to do New Year resolutions and All that crap, I really can't be bothered. I'm hoping to be able to make things different this year. Mainly around health areas, weight, fitness etc.

We have a new hobby in the house, arm knitting. We already have an infinity scarf, basically a snood, and the next plan is for a blanket. So don't be surprised if of birthday presents and anniversary present are very similar to these sort of things.

My plan is to blog at least once a week, but don't hold me to that. My life doesn't throw that many things that I want to blog about

Films  so far this year, today, have included Good Will Hunting, The Hobbit the battle of the five armies,  and Ghosts of Mars

Maybe I will review films who knows.

Loving the job and getting lean!

Hey there!

The new job is still going well I'm enjoying the challenges it raises and my confidence is growing day by day, week by week
The people are lovely for the most parts, and I'm looking forward to the future with them.

New beginnings in my job has prompted an attempt at new beginnings for health, fitness and weight loss.

I'm currently about 5' 10" and weigh about 16 St  but more importantly I'm nowhere near as fit as I want to be.

Starting today I'm doing H I I T following #thebodycoach channel on YouTube. However easy it looks when u first see it, it certainly isn't the first time you do it.

Hopefully it's going to get easier !!!

Tempted to try the 90 day SSS plan with them too.

Fingers crossed things improve weight and fitness wise

Three weeks in...

It's been a while, but I guess I never really thought I'd be able to blog regularly. I really don't think anything of any interest to other people happens to me!,

Anyway, since my last gloat about leaving the DWP, I have got the money in the bank and have left there, never to darken their doors again. Well not for work purposes anyway!

To be honest I was looking forward to a few weeks off, but I was sent a job description for an IT Manager at a solicitors in Halifax, good money for the role, so thought I'd apply. I was expecting to be using it as an exercise in applying for jobs, and getting used to being rejected again!

Turns out I got the job, so left one job on the Friday, and started the new one on the Monday.

So I'm now the IT Manager for WilkinsonWoodwardBearders Solicitors in Halifax. Quite a small business with approx 86 staff spread over 3 sites.

So far so good, I'm getting back into the swing of actual customer service, and enjoying the challenge of learning, not just the IT stuff, but how things work in the private sector, and I'm looking forward to helping the company move forward with its aims and ambitions.

That's all for now. I am going to make a concerted effort to get more stuff on here, who knows, someone might find it interesting !!

Cheers

A New Beginning

Well it's been a long time coming, since the back end of July to be precise, but the end is finally in sight.

My last day working for 'The Department' will be 27/02/2015 !

It's a scary thought, but also a potentially huge opportunity.

I've only realistically had one proper job, and i've been here in whatever brand it's been for the last 24 years ; DHS, BA, DWP etc etc. It's been an unambitious career, ranging from filing to project work, and ending up as an IT Service Manager, but in all honesty it's just been a laugh from end to end.

People keep asking me what i'm going to be doing after I leave, simple answer - I have no idea! Whatever it is I end up doing, I really don't want any of this responsibility crap. Give me a job where i turn up, do some work, then go home and forget about it. Yes I can hear those that know me chuckling and chuntering that it will be the first work i'll have done since they've known me, but all i can say to that is...

I'm out...You're not ;o)

I've got a couple of things I want to do, one of which is just daft but will be great fun, the other is a great little idea, and although its only in it's infancy I do find myself getting excited by it. I keep expending on it, and then reigning myself back in. I just need to keep my mind on the fact it will take a lot of planning to get the basic things in place, but fingers crossed it will work out in the end.

So if there is anyone out there with a job available from March then let me know !!

Now who should i approach to fund this project ???

Cheers

Heart Operations and a nice winter view

Well the day has finally arrived and my mum is checked in to Nuffield Hospital Leeds ready for her Heart valve replacement tomorrow.
Lovely private room and a very nice full choice menu. It's ridiculous that she is having this op on the NHS but in a private hospital. Cant fault it though.
Just fingers crossed all goes well in the op tomorrow and she gets out as quick as possible.

It Snowed All Night....

After a lovely meal at the local Indian Restaurant last night, we came home and settled in for the night.
It snowed all night, and we have 3 or 4 inches of snow again. Nothing major, but nice to see. I'm sure the entire surronding area will grind to a halt yet again!
The kids will no doubt be wanting to go out for a walk when they get out of bed, which is good, means I can go and see my mum to make sure she is ready to go in for her Heart Op.
Strangely, the little Fiat hasnt got as much snow on it as the rest of the cars around it! I wonder why that is?
Looking forward to watching the Malaysian Grand Prix qualifying on SkyGo, see what that has in store for us.
